Chang Jian Ming is an Associate Principal and a Patent Attorney in Rodyk IP.
Jian Ming graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore in 2003 and was registered as a Singapore Patent Attorney (Registration No.: SGPA/1103/0136) in 2011. He has past in-house practice experience with a local Information Technology firm as well as private practice experience with a boutique Intellectual Property firm.
At Rodyk IP, Jian Ming manages mainly a mechanical, electrical and electronic patents portfolio, including designs as well. He also assists to prosecute patent cases in the field of pharmaceuticals, materials science, chemistry and biotechnology, including handling of method of treatment issues. His areas of competency encompass patent drafting, patent/design prosecution and maintenance, patent/design law advisory, handling outstanding patent/design examination reports, patent/design searches, due diligence checks involving patents/designs, and patent validity and infringement advice.
Jian Ming has accumulated extensive patenting drafting/prosecution experience since the start of his career in namely, the following technical fields: Information Technology, Telecommunications, Mobile Applications, Signal Processing, Imaging Technology, LCD Screen Lamination, IC Wire Bonding, IC Packaging, Mechanical Systems, Power Electronics, Control Systems, Design software, Gaming software, Business software, Logistics Management Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Imaging Technology, Medical Kit, Medical Diagnostic Device, Waste Water Treatment, Industrial Automation, and Consumer Electronics. Having such extensive experience, he trains less experienced professionals at Rodyk IP.
Jian Ming has both in-house and private practice experience and has experience handling patent matters of numerous jurisdictions, namely, ASEAN, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, United States of America, Australia, Russia, Brazil, Europe, United Kingdom, Japan, some Middle Eastern countries, and the Republic of Korea. For design matters, his experience extends to Singapore, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, United States of America, Australia, Europe, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
Jian Ming is the secretary of the Association of Singapore Patent Attorneys (ASPA), 2017-2019 and a Design Committee representative of the Singapore Group of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA). He is also an Examiner of the Singapore Patent Agent Qualifying Examination for year 2018.
