Profile
Elaine is an Associate Principal of Rodyk IP. She specialises in the registration and protection of trade marks and designs. Her experience extends to trade mark searches, filing, prosecution and opposition, design filing and prosecution and IP assignment and licensing in Singapore and elsewhere. Her practice ranges from intellectual property protection, prosecution and enforcement to general counseling on the acquisition, management, exploitation and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
Elaine handles the IP portfolios of local and international clients across several industries. Her clients range from individuals, small and medium size enterprises, multi-national corporations and government bodies. She works with her clients’ legal, marketing and business teams to ensure the proper administration, use and enforcement of their trade marks, designs, patents, copyright, know-how and trade secrets. Elaine has conducted trademark due diligence in M&A transactions and partnered with clients in the franchising, distribution, sponsorship deals as well as their negotiation of brand co-existence agreements.
Elaine has particular skills and knowledge in providing advice on trademark applications (both local and worldwide), prosecutions, oppositions and post-registration matters. Her experience extends to commercial transactions involving intellectual property and technology. Elaine has advised clients on the acquisition, management, licensing and enforcement of intellectual property rights, including trade marks, industrial design, copyright, confidential information and trade secrets. In the area of copyright, Elaine has dealt with issues relating to the ownership, transfer and/or exploitation rights in the works of employees and consultants, outsourced vendors, co-authors and joint venture partners.
She has drafted and reviewed franchising agreements, distribution agreements, sponsorship agreements, trademark co-existence agreements, software development and support agreements, agreements for Internet usage and electronic commerce transactions across a wide range of industries.

- Confidential client: Assisting a multinational company in the sale and licensing of the intellectual property of its group of companies and in negotiating product supply agreements ahead of a product launch by an affiliated company overseas.
- Confidential client: Acting for an original design manufacturer of mobile telecommunications devices in the negotiation of a manufacturing agreement for mobile phones overseas.
- Confidential client: Acting for a franchisee of a foreign fashion label in the review of a franchise agreement.
- Confidential client: Acting for statutory boards and charitable organizations in the preparation of tender documents for the supply of a wide variety of goods and services.
- Confidential client: Acting for a local company in defense of its trademark in opposition proceedings and in negotiating a trademark co-existence agreement with the opponent in the same trade.
